Experience exchange for freelancersThe freelancer marketplace Freelancermap has launched a new service, Freelancer Wissen (tagline „Expert knowledge by freelancers for freelancers“). The site will primarily offer IT freelancers a forum in which to exchange knowledge on specialist topics. Users generate content – sharing their expertise – and are rewarded with „reputation and attention“.

Disney acquires Playdom

Disney acquires PlaydomThe media group Walt Disney has bought social gaming company Playdom. TechCrunch has reported that the purchase price was $563.2 million, in addition to an earn-out of up to £200m. After the last round of financing in June 2010, the company’s value stood at $345 million. Meanwhile, rival Zynga confirmed a $150 million investment by Softbank. A Google investment for the same amount is yet to be officially confirmed by Zynga.

Facebook as Q&A community

Q&A community at FacebookFacebook has made a first tentative step into search with the trial of Facebook Questions, which enables users to ask a question to the entire Facebook community. Selected users now have the option to ask a question from the Facebook homepage, or from their friends‘ profiles. If rolled out, such a feature will put Facebook in competition with sites such as Hiogi in Germany, Ask.com, or indeed, Google.
