The Data team turns the company’s data into useful insights to personalize the experience of our customers and to provide business with data-informed decision support. We work at the intersection of statistics, machine learning and engineering to tackle some of the most challenging and interesting problems.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving real-world problems. We are looking for someone who believes in testing ideas rather than talking about them; who loves building data products and models; and who feels comfortable working with a diverse group of colleagues, e.g. product managers, business analysts and engineers.
This role will closely collaborate with colleagues across the business and the product management team to conceptualize, design, execute and evaluate A/B and multivariate tests. To this end you will contribute in building a world-class experimentation program. You will be responsible of choosing and implementing appropriate quantitative methods for a proprietary testing platform. Analytical tasks will include segmentation and behavioral studies to uncover opportunities and develop hypotheses, as well as post-hoc analysis for deep understanding of experimental outcomes. This is an opportunity to work in a highly impactful, visible role that will be transformative to the business. The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable writing code, choosing statistical methods, and communicating business implications with a non-technical audience.
3+ years industry experience, including hands-on experience with A/B testings
Master in a quantitative discipline required (Statistics, Applied Math, Physics, Economics, or Computational Science).
Strong background in statistics, including experimental design. Must be able to choose appropriate methods for solving a given problem, rather than using packages as a black box.
Excellent programming skills: must be able to write clean and concise code in either Python, or R.
Experience with web analytics software such as Google Analytics and online tracking, e.g. SnowPlow is a plus.
Experience with testing packages such as Optimizely strong plus.
Familiarity with SQL is a plus.
Deep skepticism of buzzword mumbo jumbo, plus the ability to identify and debunk false assumptions and analytical flaws is a strong plus.
