To expand our team in Berlin, we are looking for one:


Release Manager (m/f) System Development


In the role as Release Manager you are in charge of scheduling, coordinating and managing the releases of the ICE Copyright System, proving 3 annual releases to customers, integrating new functionality and product enhancements from different projects and portfolios. You will work closely with Business Analysts, Systems Analyst Designers, Developers, Testers and Projects Managers as well as with our Operations team. You will play a central part in the successful delivery of new system capabilities while considering also the continuous operation and full life cycle of the ICE Copyright System.

The Release Manager will typically have a background as Systems Developer and experience with the full life-cycle of systems development including systems integration, configuration management, release management, software version control and development processes and methodology.

You will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, and production environments. The Release Manager Job function works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.

Typically the Release Management will take 50% of time in average, while the other 50% will be spent on software development tasks.

Role highlights include

  • Forward plan the release schedule for the ICE Copyright system,
  • Coordinate all release content and all release activities based on the change request backlog, pending change requests, customer take –on projects, new product development project, third party applications, and operating system updates,
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes,
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations,
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews,
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality,
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations,
  • Weekly Release Status Reporting,
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans,
  • Work with systems developers to understand impacts of branches and code merges,
  • Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors,
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process,
  • Internally lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists,
  • Develops scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms,
  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks,
  • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
  • Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field,
  • 2-6 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred),
  • 8-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development,
  • Formal training in project management practices preferred,
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle,

Availability to travel across Europe up to 10% of time is required.
