Everyone has a bunch of subscriptions: Internet, mobile phone, electricity and many others. Yet it is painful to deal with them. That’s why most people simply ignore them. That’s great for the companies that offer them. But costly for the rest of us.
We seek to fix that. By connecting disparate information sources. By building smart scoring solutions that create transparency. By creating APIs where none exist. And by digging through thousands of data points and running them through a constantly evolving recommendation algorithm. The result: A simple recommendation for our users. Truly customized to their individual preferences. Like that of a good friend. Or a trustworthy assistant. With a friendly reminder service when deadlines are coming up or price changes occur. All with the objective of providing our users with peace of mind.
We are looking for a seasoned full stack developer. But we don’t care about traditional career paths. Instead, we look for someone who is truly passionate about programming. With in-depth experience in Ruby. Someone who doesn’t think in problems, but opportunities. And someone who is interested in taking on more responsibility, making an impact on our overall direction.
Our main application is written in Ruby using Rails. Some of the technologies we work with:
We love iterating over small ideas and shipping them early and often. Everything we build, we try early on with actual customers. And we continue improving it as we get feedback. Given the complexity of the market we operate in, we often have to solve new challenges for which no pre-existing solutions exist. Hence, we're looking for someone that's comfortable with learning new technologies. And at dealing with uncertainties.
We move at a fast pace. And we are trying to be smart on how we do things. We therefore put a strong emphasis in the flexibility of what be build. We encourage reusability and design patterns whenever it makes sense. We're very pragmatic. Moreover, we don't believe in traditional work schedules. Instead we'll give you the flexibility to work remote for as much time as you find comfortable.
SwitchUp was started by Arik Meyer, the founder of Audible.de, and José Albornoz, a passionate developer from Chile who loves creating smart and beautiful solutions as well as sharing his knowledge at Rails Girls or at various talks.
We are still a small team at an early stage of development. Hence, we’d love to hear from you if you feel you can create a big impact within our team and for our customers. Instead of sending us your cookie cutter cover letter, tell us about something that you are excited about. After all, life is precious and should be spent with people that share your passion.
