Ecosia, "the search engine that plants trees", is a pioneering social business and one of the first B Corporations in Europe. As part of our mission to cultivate a more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable world, we want to plant a billion native trees by 2020. Our 3 million users do 25 million searches every month and our small, dedicated team needs to grow! We're now looking for a (part-time) Chief Operating Officer, who will be overseeing all financial, contracting, communication, legal and HR processes.

What you'll be doing

  • Working alongside the CEO to define strategy and tactics to achieve business goals
  • Providing Ecosia with a strong day-to-day leadership presence
  • Identifying KPIs, developing project plans, and monitoring organization’s performance
  • Overseeing HR, including: recruitment, head-hunting, payroll, mentorship and training
  • Ensuring solid accounting and budgeting processes that comply with all relevant regulations
  • Effectively maintaining cost-control and risk
  • Maintaining and enhancing a dynamic, collaborative, fun team environment

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of senior leadership experience, track record in a multi-faceted technology business a major plus
  • Consulting, finance or entrepreneurship background, MBA a plus
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability towards business execution
  • Ability to implement high-level strategy front and centre
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible, with superior communication skills
  • Passion for Ecosia's mission and commitment to our core values
  • Fluent spoken and written English and German (native language skills a bonus)
