Country/PR-Manager (m/f)

We are a media startup from the Netherlands that is looking to transform the world of newspapers and magazines. Blendle allows users of the website to buy individual articles from a range of premium publishers and publications for a few cents a pop. Interested? Read more about the platform here. And here. Blendle, launched in 2014, had a lot of success and gained massive traction in homecountry the Netherlands. And now we’re moving abroad. We have already signed deals with The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, but Germany is the first country we'll expand to. All the major German publishing houses have joined us. And we've already started a pretty awesome German beta :)

And now we need a Country & PR Manager in Germany – someone who makes our users and therefore our partners happy.

We will soon tell what we hope you are capable of, but it seems more fun to first tell why we have chosen for Blendle ourselves. Because you undoubtedly already have a fun job - just like we had.

You will be responsible for the happiness of our German users and partners. We can make our partners (the publishers) happy by generating revenue for them. To do so we need traction: how do we get as many Germans as possible hooked to Blendle?

We don’t have massive media budgets, so we (that’s you and us) have to be clever, especially on PR. It would be great if you have a background in journalism. Not only because Blendle was founded by journalists and we hope all our employees share our love for great journalism, but also because in that case you probably have a good network among fellow journalists and publishers. And you know how to get Blendle in the media: not by spamming everybody with press releases, like most PR firms do.

We will also hire Germans for our support and editorial team. They will be located in our HQ in Utrecht, because we think it’s important if they can work together with their Dutch peers. You will be in Utrecht often too, but you will probably work mostly from our Berlin office in Prenzlauer Berg, since you’ll have many, many appointments in Germany.

  • 5-10 years experience in PR and marketing
  • Successful track record and working experience with business development, preferably in an international context
  • Strong leadership, communication & dealmaking skills
  • Native German and fluent in English
  • Great social skills and loads of positive energy
  • Big plus: Experience in a media-driven or digital startup environment
  • A big heart for journalism
