Position: Head of Cloud/Service Operations Manager (m/f)

Location: Berlin

Reporting to: Head of Tech. Ops and Corporate IT

Job Description

  • Build up a Cloud Ops Team, managing our global platform and corporate software
  • Ensure our cloud services are operational 24x7x365 with global performance
  • Manage and improve our cloud production site through our Service Operations Center with staff, tools, processes, monitoring and communication
  • Drive technical, process, organizational transformation to deliver a world-class, global Service Operations Center
  • Develop and deliver these strategies to executives and customers
  • Closely partner with engineering teams to understand, mitigate and address production risks while enabling agility
  • Manage our operation incident management processes
  • Deliver crisp and accurate internal and external communication as it relates to production maintenance and outages
  • Manage Service Operations Center monitoring dashboards and tools. Deliver production health metrics to drive service improvements

Role – detailed description

Who we are looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in web/app/cloud operation, administration and/or engineering in distributed global service environment
  • LPIC at least level 2
  • Deep understanding of web/app infrastructure operations and delivery
  • Technical vision and understanding of app / SaaS / IaaS infrastructures including virtual data centers, DNS, backup, replication, storage, load balancing, databases (relational and NoSQL), virtualization, security and related technologies
  • Experience in hybrid IaaS (Data Center + AWS) preferred
  • Experience in managing postgres and dynamo database, java application servers like jetty or tomcat, etc
  • Automated, software based infrastructure management or IaaS experience is a must
  • Open source experience in this area is a plus
  • Visionary with ability to lead new technologies and evolve our global infrastructure stack
  • Solid understanding of highly available, secure services and ability to deliver on them
  • Strong verbal and written communication, to interface engineers, executives and customers
  • self-driven/self-motivated with a strong desire to continuously improve yourself and your team
