Matmatch is a materials search platform that connects engineers and material suppliers through the most comprehensive materials database in the world. We enable engineers, product designers and procurement teams to find the best materials and suppliers for their job.
On the supplier-side, Matmatch provides an exciting new channel to generate qualified leads, promote materials and gain market insight. We are based out of central Munich with the aim to become the go-to-platform for all material related needs of customers all over the world.

Key responsibilities

To support our ambitious growth, we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager with a proven sales background, to join our team in Munich. 

  • Researching and identifying prospective accounts in the DACH region 
  • Creating new opportunities and building up a strong pipeline from scratch 
  • Converting leads into sales opportunities by identifying alignment of critical business needs with Matmatch solutions 
  • Developing and maintaining a sales pipeline with quantitative and qualitative leads to achieve and surpass your sales target 
  • Pursuing leads and following sales process through to successful agreements 
  • Gathering market insights from customers to shape and improve product development 
  • Being ready to cold call from the most advanced to the most basic potential customer 
  • Presenting and demonstrating the added value of the Matmatch  solution at all levels including to Managing Directors 
  • Maintaining the CRM for opportunity, pipeline and contact management 
  • Ensuring a professional handover of signed customers to our account management 
  • Visiting and representing Matmatch at trade fairs and events 
  • Positioning Matmatch as a leading materials search platform 
  • Having a strong desire to learn about the product and the industry

What we are looking for

  • Strong background in new business development, lead generation and sales management 
  • 3+ years of work experience in sales and/or business development 
  • Qualification in business administration, sales or relevant field with a strong interest in science and technology   
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) 
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills 
  • Hunter mentality 
  • Willing and able to travel 
  • Experience in materials is a plus – not a must 
  • Native-level German language, high proficiency in English also required 
  • Self-starter mentality 
  • Team player with international and startup mindset
