Michael Hall – Editor
Michael Hall joined Vertical Media as a translator before becoming editor of the English language Gründerszene in June 2010. Before moving to Berlin he was a journalist based in London and worked for news organisations including Reuters, Haymarket, the Press Association and The Guardian. More recently he managed international content for the Berlin web company erento.
Joel Kaczmarek – Editor-in-Chief
Joel Kaczmarek was hired in March 2009 as editor-in-chief of the German language Gründerszene. Since then he has brought in many innovations, including the Gründerszene database of German startups, founders and investors. Joel holds a Masters in European Media Studies and did post-graduate work in the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute, Potsdam. He loves nothing better than a Nogger ice cream.
Mark Hoffmann – Managing Director
Mark Hoffmann is an entrepreneur and managing director of Vertical Media GmbH, the company behind Gründerszene. Prior to that, he worked as a managing editor at ESL TV and a presenter at GIGA TV, a gaming TV station. Mark is a whizz with online games and was team manager of a number of very successful professional gaming teams.
Kersten A. Reichers – Writer
Kersten A. Riechers joined the German team in July 2009 as a daily news reporter after getting in touch via Twitter. He studied online journalism at the University of Darmstadt and interned at ZEIT and FAZ before getting spotted by Vertical Media. He feeds news through for the daily news bucket. Kersten is a huge fan of Michael Caine.
Georg Räth – Video Editor
Georg Räth joined Gründerszene in February 2010. As video editor he is responsible for lighting, filming, sound recording and editing Gründerszene video interviews as well as commissioning content from other producers. He studied media computer sciences at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. Georg is a fantastic skateboarder, earning him the nickname Tony Hawk around the office.
